The Year 2012
Old habits die hard, and though my blog is slowly demising with a record low of 7 blog posts this year, it still deserves its annual year-in-review post. The decrease in blog posts is largely due to my activities on dailyfratze.de – whenever something slightly interesting or mildly life-changing happens, I tend to blog it over there these days. There’s an RSS feed for that, too…
January
- My first BA semester was about to end with two exams. OMG, so much studying! I studied everyday and so much until I was completely bored with the material. Worked perfectly fine.
February
- After I nailed one exam and did somewhat satisfactory on the second one, I was rewarded with 2 months of semester break. I mostly spend them with friends, gardening, and…
March
- …Skyrim! But after about 120 hours in-game and 50 XBOX achievements, it was time to focus on the real world again.
- I took a side job in the student union, which I’m currently still in.
- I went to my fourth concert of Kaizers Orchestra. The tickets for the fifth one have already arrived.
- March was actually warm enough for a nice barbecue in the garden. The months after weren’t…
April
- It didn’t take us long to be back in London after having been there in June 2011. This time the occasion was a concert.
- New semester, lots of new stuff to study!
May
- This was a good month for gardening, but as usual, the weather during the rest of the year didn’t really allow us to enjoy it much.
- I started another side job, but this one only lasted until October because I found something which interested me more…
June
- I was shaken and shocked to learn about the death of my estranged former best friend. With all those strange emotions, I went to her funeral and I hope that’ll bring closure to that part of my life.
- With 5 exams looming at the end of the semester, most of my time was occupied with studying (again).
- I joined my brother’s birthday party in Berlin at the end of the month.
July
- Exam time! All month long! But since I’m such a nerd, I mastered all of them.
August
- All that stress of the past months was relieved by a very long and adventurous vacation in Northeast America. For the first time in my life I got to enjoy Canada – from Toronto over Kingston to Montréal. But no visit to the northamerican continent would be complete without visiting my folks in New York and New Jersey, so that’s where we went after a brief detour through Boston. Canada was a pleasant surprise though, I liked it there very much. It combines all the best things of Europe and America.
September
- England! Again! When I had the opportunity to join an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon which included seeing 5 Shakespeare plays, I seized it right away. And it was pretty damn cool.
- What remained of my semester break was again used with studying for an exam – which again, I aced. But more so due to a big amount of luck.
- I’m grumpy about Steven Moffat and blogged about it.
October
- It’s university time again. Now that I’m in the student union, I was involved in all the freshmen introduction fun.
- This semester I’m taking Chinese instead of Swedish. New challenges everywhere.
- Finally watched Castle and loved it.
November
- I was infected with the Downton Abbey virus, which kept me glued to the screen for two weeks. Sooooo much drama! Argh.
- I was selected for a scholarship program (remember all the studying? It’s rewarding!) and spontaneously had to go business dress-code shopping on my birthday in order to look neat at the scholarship ceremony thingy.
December
- While I was still majorly undecided about where to spend my Study Abroad semester earlier this year, I finally decided to apply to the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. And shortly after I handed in my application, I was accepted! So, next year will definitely be interesting! 😉
I’ve got to do the opposite and go to DF more. 🙂
Sounds like you had an exciting year especially with all the travel! I am looking forward to your study abroad next year! That is so exciting!
